Mit Wirkung vom 2. April 2002 hat die MITSUBISHI MOTORS Deutschland GmbH (MMD), eine 100%ige Tochter von Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V., den Vertrieb von Mitsubishi Fahrzeugen in Deutschland übernommen. Das Unternehmen hat seinen Sitz im hessischen Hattersheim bei Frankfurt/M. Bis zu diesem Datum wurden Mitsubishi Fahrzeuge in Deutschland - seit 1977 - durch die MMC Auto Deutschland GmbH in Trebur importiert (siehe Chronik ).
